Project Management: Transferring a project from an earlier versions of Web to date
You can of course transfer your projects from an earlier version of the web to date into the new version web to date 8.0. Please note the following points:
For web to date 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 users:
After the installation of web to date 8.0, you can open your current web to date 5.0/6.0/7.0 project via the design wizard in web to date 8.0 under the option Open an existing project, just select it from the project directory. You will then be informed that this project was created using a previous version of web to date and asked whether you wish to create a copy of the project. The project will then open in web to date 8.0.
Furthermore you can restore web to date 5.0/6.0/7.0 projects from the backup archive (xxx.w2b) into web to date 8.0. To restore your project from a web to date 5.0/6.0/7.0 backup archive, please proceed as follows:
1. Start web to date 8.0
2. Select Open in the following start-up wizard, select Open existing project
3. Then click on the button Restore from archive. In the next window select your web 5.0/6.0/7.0 to-date backup archive
4. Your project is then restored.
For users of earlier versions of web to date:
Due to the revised format structure of web to date 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 it is not possible to import or open back up files and archives (. W2D, w2b) created in a previous version, in to web to date 8.0. In this instance you can only use the first method via the project directory and the design wizard in web to date 8.0.
